MOCCA NY

The newest project: a Suckerpunch competition for a hypothetical design for the MOCCA (Museum of Comic Book and Cartoon Art) in New York's lower east side! :)

Fun, fun.

Progress is slow right now...I've been consumed with preliminary ideas about procession and the process of moving through distinct thresholds to transition into the next experience. Something about the way you move through Comic art...you know...all that activity that happens in the white space between the graphic frames. Those little sterile gutters are like moments of anticipation. I've been throwing around ideas about creating an experience that is heavily reliant upon procession. Emphasized circulation..yum. In recent preliminary proposals, I've been toying with the idea of what I'm calling a 'frame skin'--a steel grid of black frames that project from a transparent facade--allowing the end user to be framed as if the movement of the user and the procession through space is, in fact, the story.

More to come...midcrit on Weds--tons of work for the weekend.

Prelim concept board...an odd dialogue on context.
